Jonathan, who goes by his middle name Lucas or better known as Prince Lucas, is a listener. He gets the "feel" of a situation and acts accordingly. He can be a lads man, but has toned down his frolicking ways since marrying Prince Ethan Gold Brandis, who Ethan calls him Sunshine. This ability to "feel" was a very helpful factor in during his stint as Ambassador on the UFP Council. Although he looks about 22, he's really 31 years old, quite young for an El Aurian hybrid). Sometimes his youthful appearance has proven to be uneasy. But, Lucas is an optimist, never letting a situation get the better of him. He enjoys playing games of any sort and always plays to win.
Quietly and in person, Lucas is the best of friends, always helpful, never judging. Although technically a Prince, Lucas does go by his full title in Starfleet, this makes his mother very happy. He picked up the nickname "Twinky" at the Academy for his youthful appearance. He does not like when strangers call him that, but will allow certain friends to get away with it from time to time. Those in Starfleet who do not know him usually mistake him for a member of the crew's children. He has thick skin and can handle most any situation.
Jonathan Lucas Brandis is handsome by Human standards. His eyes are normally blue, but do to a pigment in the El Aurian eye, he has to ability to make them whatever color he chooses. He has a slight tan, which only serves to accentuate with his Lovely blonde hair.
Lucas prefers Terran Italian dishes of most any kind, and even cooks his famous Lasagna on special occasions. Lucas is rarely a drinker, seeing it only as a thing for special occasions. He was once challenged by a Klingon to a blood wine-drinking contest and fell into a three day long coma. He has hated alcohol ever since however he loves Earth drink called Cherry Cosmo which Ethan got him hock on..
Lucas has a strong knowledge of computers, holding Master degrees in Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. He wishes to someday try his hand at creating a Positronic Neural Net for Artificial Intelligence using some of the principles he's read about from what little of Doctor Soong's work remains.
Lucas also fancies himself a poet and a philosopher, as well as a closet musician. He is a proficient keyboard player and guitarist, but finds his music to be so personal that he is too self-conscious to play for an audience.

Biographical Overview

Lucas was born on Betazed where he was conceived by Vicea Heero, a Betazoid mother of the First House, and Jonathan Brandis, an El Aurian physicist. Lucas is a El Aurian-Betazoid and only child. His full Title is Jonathan Lucas Brandis Zea Toa, Son of the First House, Holder of the Sacred Scrolls of Zed, Keeper of Pali's Peace, Ruler of the RaRazed, Gateway to the Revalan, Keeper of the Truth of Valdost, High Prince of Tulier, and Master of the Betazed Chalic (a necklace he wears around his neck under StarFleet uniform at all times, a sign of the Ruling Family).
As Zea Toa (First Prince of the United Betazed Kingdom), Lucas spent the first 10 years of his life on Betazed, in the feudal province of Tulier, where he was born in the Royal Palace at Vov near Angel Falls. He was ushered into Royal Customs, by his mother, who was overly protective of her only child, especially during the early years of his life. His father, who did not much care are for the customs and heredity taught him about Earth and its culture. His father is El Aurian, born and raised on the planet Earth, around 1800. Due to his father being El Aurian, Lucas is not as prone to aging as most of the Humans he is surrounded by. He ages 1 year in appearance for every 10 Human years that he is alive (other than Betazoid developmental stages, which tend to speed his aging along with his sexual arousal).
Following his 9 years on Betazed as a Prince, seeing to ceremonies and state events, Lucas joined the Betazed Global Guard (GG), where he excelled more in diplomacy and terrorist disarming than in hand to hand combat. As the years pass his ability to defuse a situation gained notice and he was called upon on several occasions, both on and off Betazed. This was where he seemed to find his calling and after 5 years in the GG, he decided to become Ambassador to the UFP for Betazed. He was immediately given the position, due to his standing in Betazed's First House. In his ten years as Ambassador he was key in negotiating a Treaty of Peace with the Romulans, for which he earned the UFP Peace & Diplomacy Prize, in 2345. It was rumored that the federation traded in more than planets and star systems. In 2350, he stopped an assassination attempt on the President of the United Federation of Planets, wounding himself, and earning him the Federation Medal of Honor. The many events that occurred during this time are classified, Cosmic Top Secret and strictly need to know.
But, his selfless act would prove to end his career as Ambassador. His mother, the Zea or Empress-Queen of Betazed, thought him insane to risk his own life, the life of a Son of the First House, for a mere elected official, even if it was the President. She had him removed from his position and, along with his father, convinced him to further pursue an education, somewhere safe. So, Lucas understanding that his mother was only concerned for his well being, decided to go to the Daystrom Institute. There he excelled in his studies and in the years that followed, earned several Masters (since anything less would be an embarrassment to the First House).
Being part El Aurian, Lucas inherited a hatred for the Borg from his father who was driven from their home world many years earlier. He the freedom and privilege that the Federation stood for and in 2370 joined Starfleet Academy, with some resistance from his mother. He breezed through his classes and found a friend Eric Gold, his Cadet Senior Advisor at the Academy during his first year. Upon graduating, he received the rank of Ensign and was assigned to the USS Enterprise-E .
In early 2375, Lucas was promoted to Lieutenant junior grade and made Security Officer on board the USS Enterprise. Later that same year, in the heat of the Dominion war, Lucas was promoted to full Lieutenant. At the conclusion of the war, Lucas received the Starfleet Medal of Honor Citation and was made Night Shift Asst. Tactical Officer of the USS Enterprise-E. His home planet, which had been captured and occupied during the war, was released. His mother had remained on the planet and fought off the Dominion forces from within. Lucas was overjoyed to find his mother alive and well. He fell in love with Ethan Gold, whom he had been dating and they were married on Betazed in full diplomatic and traditional Betazoid style.

In 2376, Lucas was married to Ethan Gold on Betazed and had a honeymoon on his royal palace on Risa. After returning to the USS Enterprise-E to resume his role as Security Officer, Ethan Gold was promoted to Lieutenant and Security department with Lucas. Subsequently, Captain Gold offered Lucas the position of Chief of Security for the new USS Prometheus NX-59650. Grateful for the confidence of his long time friend, First Officer, Captain and new brother-in-law, Lucas and Ethan turn down the positions and promotions as ship’s Second Officer and Chief of Security Officer because they don't want to leave the Enterprise-E.

Four years later Prince Lucas was offered the position of Mission Advisor on the USS Sovereign , the same ship Prince Ethan was offered a transfer with. Prince Lucas was overjoyed, and the two of them transferred together, exited at the prospect of a whole new adventure.
