Leads a walk-out of the four crew involved in Tuvok's class when he disagrees with Tuvok's methods.  Is punched by Chakotay, à la the Maquis Way when he complains about StarFleet methods, and is challenged by Torres to complete the class and face his fear that he might not be able to.  Torres also orders him to replace some more infected gel packs.  During a bonding exercise at Sandrine's, he tells Tuvok of his youth on the Bajoran frontier, where Cardassians raped and murdered his one love.  He joined the Maquis to slaughter as many of them as he could.  Details his inability to bond with Gerron.  Tells Tuvok he's uninterested in being his friend, and walks out.
When Tuvok risks his life to save Crewman Gerron, Dalby comes into line, saying that if Tuvok can bend StarFleet rules, they can certainly learn to follow them. (LeC)

An older, vengeful Kes comes back to Voyager to rescue her younger self and hand Voyager to the Vidiians.  During that time she crashes into Voyager, blows out bulkheads,  blasts people with psychic powers, sucks power from the Warp Core, causing Torres' death and goes back in time to 56 days after Voyager came to the Delta Quadrant.  There, looking young, she tries to 'rescue' herself, upset over her uneasiness for the journey she began in the episode "The Gift."  She means to take the young Kes back to Ocampa, blaming the Voyager crew for her difficulties.  Her time travel causes tachyon overloads to give Tuvok premonitions of things she'll do, and of people and things yet to come to Voyager.  Janeway confronts her in the airponics bay, and is forced to kill her in self-defense.
    With the help of the younger version of Kes, Janeway and Tuvok make a holographic message that they play for the older Kes when she comes to Voyager, again, in the present.  They alter the timeline from that point, reminding the older Kes of her own part in the decision to leave.  She leaves again, this time in peace, for her homeworld.
