My favorite comic story is Wildstorm STAR TREK VOYAGER Avalon Rising.  This is a tale of the Doctor.  Voyager receives a message from an alien race claiming that they had left dangerous weapon on a planet.  Because of the Ion Storm, the crew can not beam on the planet and cannot afford to have their shuttle seen.  There only choice is the Doctor.  As the Doctor lands on the planet he runs into a knight and his squire (Weylyn).  The knight was injure during his battle with the dragon.  The dragon was about to kill them until the Doctor stun it.  The doctor was saving the knight life when the dragon had woke up and then attack them.  The knight was killed by a dragon and the squire was able to kill the dragon.  And so after the visit to the castle, Weylyn ended up going with the Doctor on his quest.  As they travel, the young squire was told stories of Starfleet and what they stood for.
